WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (April 16, 2009) – There was a rare duck sighting today on Lake Delton in the resort community of Wisconsin Dells, Wis., although no bird
watchers turned out to witness it. That’s because it was a splashdown of one of the fleet of WWII amphibious vehicles famously known as “Ducks” that carry visitors on tours of the lake and the Wisconsin River. Last June, torrential rains caused Lake Delton to breach its shoreline, with the lake emptying into the Wisconsin River in a matter of mere hours. Today, the Original Wisconsin Ducks® floated the first of its Duck fleet into the restored and nearly refilled lake, a sure sign the community is getting ready for the warm-weather travel season. The other Duck tour company in the area – Dells Army Duck Tours – indicated today that they plan to splashdown into Lake Delton this weekend. Details of the lake comeback can be found at www.wisdells.com.
