There's no denying Wisconsin Dells is "kid central." Families, extended families, family reunion groups, groups of friends with children in tow -- you get the picture -- have made the Dells their preferred vacation hangout. So could the rumblings be true, that Wisconsin Dells has an alter ego that is high-end and geared towards grown-ups? Here's how the evidence stacks up.
Luxury Digs
Sure, the water park resorts are grand, but try a golf villa at Chula Vista Resort or a private adults-only spa villa at Sundara Inn & Spa, and you'll know you've arrived. These are so sophisticated and so richly appointed, you probably won't want to leave.
Fine Wine
Not everyone can afford to hop a plane to Italy, or France, or Napa Valley for that matter to indulge their taste for fine wine. But certainly a trip to Prairie du Sac, just a half-hour drive from Wisconsin Dells, should be manageable. There you'll find the Wollersheim Winery in all its historic splendor. Originally established in the 1840s by Hungarian Count Agoston Haraszthy no less, and nestled in the hills overlooking the Wisconsin River valley, this property features buildings with incredible character, outdoor seating with views to the vineyard, lovely gardens and a new tasting room. There's a new winery in Wisconsin Dells too – it's called Tourdot Winery. Or, if you prefer your wine served with a fine meal, ask to see the wine list at Field's at the Wilderness or the Del-Bar. Both restaurants were designed by a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright, and both have graced the pages of Wine Spectator Magazine.
Indulgent Spa Services
Celebrities insist on it and so must you. It's a spa service to soothe those jangled nerves and make your skin glow. When the breezes blow warm in Wisconsin, try a poolside cabana massage at Rhapsody Spa on Lake Delton. You'll be escorted to an exotic looking tent where the sounds of wind and water merge with the healing touch of the spa therapist. Wisconsin Dells has seven spas to choose from. Ahhhhh.

Even fashion mavens appreciate a good deal. It simply means they can buy more. And that's what makes the Tanger Outlet Center so deliciously tempting. It has 60 designer stores with merchandise that’s very well priced. You must try the Polo Ralph Lauren store. And the Coach store. And the Banana Republic boutique. Oh yes, while you're there, do pick up a little bauble for yourself at Ultra Diamonds.
Championship Golf
It's almost unimaginable that a community of just 20 square miles could have three championship golf courses. Yet, it does. Reserve a tee time at Wild Rock Golf Club, Trappers Turn Golf Club, Cold Water Canyon Golf Course at Chula Vista Resort or all three and then golf to your heart's content.
