In the Spirit of Good FunHere in Wisconsin Dells, we've never shied away from our inner quirkiness. For those of you who've vacationed here, you know just what I mean. We have the world's largest fleet of amphibious WWII vehicles known as Ducks. Our downtown district is a pleasant patchwork of moccasin shops and fudge shops coexisting very nicely with gift galleries, a state historical site and the best hamburger joint around. And we mustn't forget the go-kart tracks, mini golf courses, haunted houses, magic shows, a space age exploratory, old-timey photo studios, the list reads like a dossier you'd see in a Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum…and we have one of those too. Then there are the waterparks. And no one trumps Wisconsin Dells when it comes to waterparks. We have more per capita than anyplace in the world. Speaking of quirky, it was a quirk of nature that brought the first visitors to Wisconsin Dells - the formation of the unusual bluffs that tower above the Wisconsin River, formed when glacial meltwaters carved deep gorges into the sandstone. Today, boat tours of all kinds take visitors for a river tour that has wowed travelers for more than 150 years. So, if you're ready to have some fun, then dive into the stories in this latest issue of our Vacation magazine and start planning your Wisconsin Dells adventure. I suggest you start with the story on everything that's new for 2009. Of course, in the spirit of originality, something we're known for here in the Dells, the feature on our indoor "fab four" waterparks, is a must-read too. We've had a lot of requests for ideas on grown-up getaways to the Dells, story titled "The Next French Riveria" delivers on that. And we know our readers love the At-A-Glance Guides covering places to stay, things to do, shopping and restaurants. Now, it's time for your own "woo hoo" moment! Have fun creating memories to carry you over until your next visit to Wisconsin Dells, "The Waterpark Capital of the World!®" Romy Snyder, Executive Director |
