Nary a day goes by that the Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau doesn’t get a call from a water park newbie wanting to know how to pack for their trip to the Dells. Take it from the experienced Bureau staff, these are water park essentials you’ll want to have safely tucked inside your suitcase.
- Swimsuit, cover-up and towel - Not to say you won’t find a cute suit that you just have to buy at one of the area’s local swimwear retailers or resort shops, but have one that you can slip into the minute you arrive so you can head directly to the water park.
- Footwear -- With literally acres of Wisconsin Dells water parks to experience, your feet will get a work-out. Swim socks are the best choice because you can keep them on during the rides. Or, pack your comfy flip-flips and stow them in one of the special shelving units set up at many of the waterslides or at the nearest chaise lounge that you’ve claimed with your towel.
- Sunscreen -- Don’t think sunscreen is just for Wisconsin Dells outdoor water parks, as some of the indoor water parks in Wisconsin Dells have clear domes that let in the sun too.
- Sunglasses with strap – Keep track of your favorite protective eyewear so it doesn’t get lost with the next big wave in the wave pool.
- Quarters -- Many Dells water parks provide handy storage lockers for your other essentials. All they require are a few quarters.
- Extra set of car keys -- Don’t you just hate that sinking feeling that washes over you when you realize your car keys are probably lost for good? Tuck away a second set and, voila, no sinking feeling.
Now, here are a few other tips:
- Do pack light. Leave valuables at home.
- Do pack a set of dry clothes if you’re heading directly home from the waterpark
- Don’t walk away from your parking spot without jotting a note to yourself with directions back to your car. Tuck the note in your beach bag and off you go.
- Don’t forget to stay hydrated. Even surrounded by water, it’s easy to forget the H2O when you’re having so much fun dashing from one water ride to the next.
- Do make plans to check in regularly with your group at a designated spot. And have a set time when everyone must be back at that spot ready to depart the Wisconsin Dells water park at the end of a delightful day.
