If you’ve never been to the studio of famed landscape photographer Henry Hamilton Bennett in downtown Wisconsin Dells, we highly recommend it. Get inspired by Bennett’s spectacular 19th century pictures of the Wisconsin River and sandstone cliffs, photos that helped make Wisconsin Dells famous.
With that as inspiration, embark on your own picturesque journey around the area by referring to the list below. Don't forget to use #lovethedells for a chance to be featured on our Instagram page.
1. Wisconsin State Parks
The area’s state parks — Devil’s Lake, Mirror Lake, and Roche-a-Cri — are phenomenal year-round for those looking to capture nature with their phones and beyond. The various trails at the parks meander through marshes, forests, up stone mounds, and down into beautiful valleys. You’re sure to find something new to snap a pic with each time you visit, but we won’t fault you for sticking to some of the favorites like canoeing on Devil’s Lake and Mirror Lake.
It’s not every day you have an opportunity to get face-to-face with deer from around the world. You are sure to capture some awesome memories whether you’re just hanging out with Bambi or have a whole herd following you. Don’t forget to say hi to some of the other fun animals at the park, including llamas and goats.
This zany restaurant has everything you need to step up your Insta game. Retro vans and an entire “Grate”-hound bus are fun sets for your next profile pic, but don’t stop there! The bright walls and stairs make awesome backdrops for those in a moodier mood. Or even grab a Birthday Bash Mega Milkshake with its huge sparkler and show off your adventurous side.
Whether you’re snapping a picture with Tubie or catching the littles zipping down the waterslides, the area waterparks are wonderful for year-round photo opportunities. The picture possibilities are nearly endless as the waterparks continue to grow and grow and grow! But don’t let that stop you from dipping your toes in the water, chatting with friends, and enjoying the moment.
The food and drinks are good, but have you seen the views? Nestled right beside Mirror Lake, there’s hardly an inch of this place that isn’t picture-perfect. The indoor space is beautifully decorated and well complemented by its great log cabin exterior. You’ll want to snap a pic of their famous old fashioned on the deck overlooking the lake.
It’s hard to choose just one winery because they’re all so unique and beautiful. The vineyards are an absolute hit, and we love getting the chance to explore the wine cellars in their incredible majesty. Fawn Creek Winery and Wollersheim Winery & Distillery are two popular destinations for those looking to explore the phenomenal vineyards for their next Insta story. Baraboo Bluff Winery is another great option for those looking to take in the sweeping hills and show off their adventurous side.
Getting away from the hustle-and-bustle can seriously have its perks. Snap a picture of the Wisconsin Dells experience while taking in the morning sun as it rises above the forest or sets over the lake. The vacation rental homes from places like Sand County Service Company and Pine Bay Lodge are good ways to escape and fully take it all in.
