Favorite Waterslides
As one might expect, “The Waterpark Capital of the World!®” has some of the most extreme and amazing waterslides on the planet. Here (in no particular order) are a few of our favorites:
- Medusa’s Slidewheel – Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park
A one-of-its-kind experience in North America, Medusa’s Slidewheel combines the fun of a Ferris wheel with the thrill of a waterslide. The unique tangle of tubes — resembling Medusa’s serpentine head — continuously rotates, bringing four-person tubes through as they slide back and forth.
- Rainbow Rapids – Chula Vista Resort
The newest water feature at Chula Vista’s Lost Rios indoor waterpark, Rainbow Rapids, takes guests on a thrilling journey through a kaleidoscope of lights, with surprise bursts of color unveiling the drops, twists, and turns that lie ahead. The Matador Mat Racers area, where guests can duel with their friends and family down a waterslide racecourse, is another Lost Rios favorite.
- Screaming Hyena – Kalahari Resort Waterparks
Serious waterpark enthusiasts literally go through the roof for Kalahari Resort Waterparks’ Screaming Hyena! The experience starts 60 feet off the water on the building’s roof, before a trapdoor opens and guests are sent hurtling 25 mph back down into the waterpark! For those who want to try surfing, boarding, or body surfing, Kalahari’s FlowRider generates five-foot-tall waves perfect for learning (or perfecting) any of these big water techniques.
- Howlin’ Tornado – Great Wolf Lodge
Don’t let Great Wolf Lodge’s toddler-focused water features fool you: its Howlin’ Tornado ride is strictly for the biggest, bravest kids (and adults)! Starting six stories above ground, four riders shoot through a funnel, circle around, then plummet through another tunnel before splashing back down into the waterpark.
- Hurricane – Wilderness Resort Waterpark
The Hurricane (located in the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort's Klondike Cavern Waterpark) is another multi-person extreme thrill slide. Participants ride a four-person raft through a cloverleaf tube into a giant funnel with a wall of translucent panels that let the natural light in – and thrills out! For wave pool fans, Wilderness Resort’s Wild WaterDome is home to America’s largest indoor wave pool – The Great Wave.
