Happy Shopping in Wisconsin Dells
If shopping ranks right up there as one of your favorite hobbies, then, trust us, you’ll want to have this list of the “best of” shopping finds in Wisconsin Dells handy the next time you visit.
Perhaps you treat shopping as a power sport. Or maybe you’re the type who loves a leisurely window shopping kind of afternoon. No matter your browsing style, Wisconsin Dells shopping is a sure bet when you know which stores to visit. Which is where this list comes in, as it covers the “best of” shopping by category, with special notes on downtown Wisconsin Dells shops. Let’s jump in, shall we?
Seasonal Home Décor
Winnebago Gift Shop always has new items on the store floor that make refreshing your home a breeze. Whether your design aesthetic veers whimsical, boho, or traditional, there is a fun new décor item waiting for you at Winnebago. This store is one of those landmark shopping destinations in downtown Wisconsin Dells that is worth a visit every time you are in town. Tip: This is a great spot to pick up a gift or two as well.
One-of-a-Kind Art
At Watson’s Woods, you’ll find sculptures by Dave Watson, a Grand National Chainsaw Champion. Along with his carvings, this off-the-beaten-path boutique offers specialty furniture, yard ornamentation, Native American artwork, pottery, and more. Opens for the season in March.
Fudge and Chocolate
There are so many tempting choices for fudge when strolling the downtown Wisconsin Dells shops. Original Wisconsin Dells Fudge uses the same old-fashioned recipe they’ve been using since they opened in 1962. Think small batches using real Wisconsin cream and butter, the finest chocolate, only pure cane sugars, and the choicest nuts. Swiss Maid Fudge has sea salt caramel truffles, English toffee, caramel pecan turtles, dipped apples, and, yes, fudge in flavors that will make you weak in the knees. This candy store also opened in 1962, so you know they’ve perfected the art of sweets over several generations.
Classic Candy
Goody Goody Gum Drop is akin to a modern day Willy Wonka experience for kids (and their grown-ups). We’re talking 1,000 different kinds of candy, taffy to jelly beans – making them the largest candy store in the state of Wisconsin. A shoo-in for a “must-stop” when you’re visiting the area.
Cheese
You’re visiting the heart of Wisconsin, so of course cheese must be on the shopping list. Market Square Cheese has a large selection of not only Wisconsin cheeses but homemade sausages too.
Resort Wear
Surprise, it’s the shops onsite at the waterpark resorts, with the store at Kalahari Resort a terrific example, as it’s stocked with everything you need to hit the waterparks in style. Round up your total at the checkout and support the Water Colors Life Project, which seeks to provide clean water to communities in Africa while highlighting the talent of artists in the region. The first $1,000,000 in donations will be matched by the Nelson family who own Kalahari through their Nelson Family Life Foundation.
Souvenirs
DooHickey’s Souvenirs and Gifts is souvenir central. We love the store’s funny name as much as we love all the fun items found here. Home décor, collectibles, wildlife art, well, you get the picture.
Children’s Items
At Made with Love, you’ll find handmade items from companies that are socially conscious and lots of specialty items created by makers from coast to coast. The backpack selection is awesome plus they have a great selection of classic toys, puzzles, and art projects that every kid clamors for.
Moccasins
Sole Moccasins & More, which opens for the season in March, carries the beloved Minnetonka Moccasins that visitors to Wisconsin Dells have been buying for generations. This retailer offers trendy styles too, sandals to winter footwear. Gifts of the World is another top spot for Minnetonka Moccasins – carrying a large selection of styles along with souvenirs, gifts, and shirts. Just look for their big red chair, shaped like Wisconsin out front.
Cowboy and Cowgirl Couture
Yes, Midwesterners can get in touch with their inner cowboy or cowgirl with a visit to The Pickled Cowboy. The boots here are works of art, and there is a fine selection of high quality western wear and home goods too. As for the “pickled” part, that would be the salsas, sauces, and pickles they stock from The Original Wisconsin Dells Pickle Company.
Activewear
If you’re looking to up your athleisure game or are serious about your athletic pursuits, then set aside time to shop Outlets at The Dells, where you’ll find a Nike Factory Store, Eddie Bauer Outlet, Under Armour, Columbia, Adidas Outlet Store, and New Balance Factory Store.
Two More For Your Spring Getaway
For delicious seasonal food and on-the-farm experiences, visit Country Bumpkin Farm Market and New Life Lavender & Cherry Farm.
The above list barely scratches the surface, so be sure to check out the full catalog of shopping hot-spots with descriptions of what makes each boutique unique. Happy Wisconsin Dells shopping!
